Chapter 120 - They're Standing Shoulder To Shoulder

"Do you think that you can ever forgive me?  Forgive me for being so emotional and believing that you could even be capable of doing that?" she asks, as she lays her head on his shoulder, "I'm sorry honey."

"It's forgotten."  he kisses the top of her head, pulling her closer in his arm.

"I have something to tell you?" Monica starts again, but doesn't look at him.  "But you have to promise to keep a secret."

"Shoot."  Jon tells her.  "All of your secrets are safe with me, you know that."

Slowly she lifts her head and their eyes lock.  With a small smile and a twinkle in her eye, she whispers, "I'm pregnant."  And she waits.  As the seconds pass, feeling like hours, she watches Jon's expression go from blank to borderline elated.   She doesn't wait for him to respond, "You have to keep it a secret."  Those words fell out of her mouth just as Monica's lips touched his.  

Lip to lip, Jon mumbles, "Are you sure?"  His arms go tightly around her and he holds her close, "Are you absolutely sure?"

Monica starts to nod her head, and tries to say yes, but she has run into the same lip to lip problem.  The best that she could, she tells him, "Yes, Dr.  Kaminski confirmed it last week."

She and Jon are so close, she can feel his heart beat with her own.  The pounding is so strong and steady, "How do you feel about this babe?"

She looks at him, "I'm thrilled.  How do you feel?" 

He holds her tight, kisses the top of her head and tells her, "I'm just as thrilled."

"It took a while for it to set in, but once it did, I could hardly contain it."

With her wrapped in his embrace, he sits there and holds her and the first thought that came to his mind, he said out loud.  "Why did you wait to tell me?"

"Does that really matter?" she mutters to him, "You know now."

"Well, the doctor confirmed it last week and you're just now telling me."

Monica draws back and takes his hand, "If you remember right, we haven't been speaking Jon."

"This warranted a phone call, I think."

"You know now, can we just be happy about it?"  She asks, with a sarcastic tone, starting to feel bad for not telling him right away.  

"Monica."

"Jesus Jon, I said I was sorry for not believing you about the nurse, do we really have to do this?"

Jon can see that she's getting upset and he can also tell that he's the reason.  With a sigh, he leans in and kisses her forehead, "I know, I know I'm sorry babe.  It's just not easy for me to not have control, as you call it."  He gives her a wink.

Monica lifts her arm and looks at her watch, "What now?"  


"What do you mean?" he stands, waking toward his bedside table, as he reaches for his cigarettes, he remembers that his wife is pregnant.  He looks over at her and adds, "Wow, Mon - we're going to be parents."  And he smiles, from ear to ear and from his heart.

She nods, "I know, but can we please keep it secret until we pass the out of danger period?"

Alarm bells went off in his heart, in his belly and in his head, "Danger period?"  He sits on the bed and reaches for her.  "Is the doctor concerned?"

She shakes her head no, "She's only concerned because we miscarried not too long ago.  My uterus is still still healing, but she's pretty sure that we'll be fine."

"Should you have come here?  I mean, are you okay to travel?"

With a laugh, "I'm fine to do anything I want, with few exceptions like sky diving, roller coasting rides, and sex."  She could see that thought drain his face of any color, but she could see that she was still his utmost concern and his first priority.  After watching him for a few moments, she continued, "I'm kidding honey - I can have sex."

He slides close to her and with her hand in his, he asks her, "Will you shower with me?"
