Chapter 97 - It Doesn't Make A Difference

The music stops, the screaming stops and the crowd takes one step back, until the realize what he just said.

The fans that were surrounding Monica moved in closer to her and started to try to touch her. That was pissing her off.  She has a camera in one hand and with her other she is holding the talk button on her mic, "Ok guys, get me out of here before I start to slap these women."

She sees the two bodyguards jump the barrier and work their way back to her.  In the meantime, Jon continues with his talking, "Come on, let her out of there and stop touching her.  She's in there taking pictures and making a video, let her do her job."  He walks over to the edge of the stage where she is at and that was all that they needed to get her out of there.

All of the girls turned their attention to the man at the end of the stage that made them weak in the knees.  The bodyguards are able to pull Monica to the barrier, where they are met by more security.  She is hoisted over and ushered to safety, which was backstage in Jon's dressing room.

"This is fucking ridiculous!" she yells as she walks in the room.  There is no one there.  She's alone and bitching about the torn shirt that she has on, "Why do they have to do this shit?"  She tosses her camera and her radio on the table.  As they land, she hears the band start to play again.

At first she wasn't sure if it was the band, the screaming had gotten to a level that she's never heard before.  This concert was one for record books; it's so far off of what Jon had planned.  He gets a little irritated when he has to sway to fit the crowd.  He puts alot of time into planning a show and interruptions really piss him off.

She listens to the band play, for the first time ever, a hard and heavy version of Livin' On A Prayer.  She can't help being drawn back toward the stage, she can't help that she wants to watch him sing the song that she is only heard him sing in the shower.  Quickly she makes her way to the side stage and watches Jon, at his microphone, stomp his foot to what would later become an anthem for Bon Jovi.  An anthem for kids all over the world.

Monica stays side stage for the remainder of the show, until they did the first encore.  She met Jon back in quick change, holding her breath.  She was worried that he was still mad about getting caught in the crowd, she can still see the look that he gave her.  "Babe, that Prayer song was excellent!"

He turns around and looks at her, "You think so?"

She nods her head with a grin, "Yeah, I do.  They seemed to like it too."

"We didn't rehearse it enough." he says as he turns the blow dryer on.  A little louder he says, "I think it'll be better tomorrow."  Monica walks up to him and starts to run her fingers through his hair, helping him dry the long and curly locks, that are drenched in sweat.  He looks at her in the mirror, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine.  Why?" she questions, forgetting all about being mobbed in the audience.

"They got pretty ferocious." he chuckles.

Monica laughs, "I know, and I don't get that.  Ripping my shit doesn't get them any closer to you, nor does hurting me."  She reaches over and takes the blow dryer from his hand.  With Aqua Net in one hand and the blow dryer in the other, she quickly dries his hair.  They can hear the crowd is getting restless.

Jon jumps up, "I gotta go.  Two more and I'll be right back."  He kisses her and dashes off to meet up with his band mates that he can hear coming his way.
