Monica looks at the two of them and asks, "Who is Dorothea?" A name she hasn't heard either of them speak. She's really curious and feels a little jealous for a moment.
She's been best friends with Richie for years and he's never said the name, that she can recall. And she knows that Jon has never mentioned her. Who is this woman that only comes to mind when they talk about a love interest in a video.
"She's a girl I know from high school. She had a thing for me, but it never went anywhere." Jon confesses, seeing Monica go a shade paler than what she already was. "She had a thing for Richie in the beginning." Jon looks to Richie to finish the story, knowing that he has no other information.
"I met her right after I met Jon." Richie holds up his innocent hands, "It never went anywhere Mon, that's why you never heard about her. She honestly was too nice for me. I couldn't date her, knowing that it would never go anywhere."
Monica loves watching the two of them squirm, but still wonders why she was never mentioned, "And now you want me to put her in a video as a love interest for Jon?" She looks more to Richie for an answer, an explaination.
Richie chimes in and says, "She would be great, she's such a natural beauty and she studied acting in high school - not that that means anything."
Monica is stuck back at Dorothea having a thing for Jon, "Jon, you think she would be good to use?"
He nods his head yes, "I do. That was years ago babe, I'm sure she has moved on. Damn, she chased Richie for a while."
"So that makes her okay."
"Depending on your vision, I think she would be great. She only came to my mind," he pats on his chest, "because I know the lyrics and she would fit the role of a heartbroken girlfriend."
"Have you seen her recently?" Monica wonders, "How do you know that she would be available?"
"I haven't seen her in a long time, I've heard that she's still around." Jon replies, with a grin on his face, "Are you getting upset?"
Monica shakes her head no and adds, "I'm not upset, I am just surprised. Do you know where she lives, where we can find her?"
Richie jumps in and says, "I think I have her phone number somewhere." He looks around the coffee table that sits between the two unmatching couches. The table is covered with papers, notebooks, guitar parts, guitar picks and various other messy things. Monica glances at it and laughs. "Hey, don't laugh, you know this is my organized chaos."
"And you think that you have a phone number in that mess?"
"Yeah, somewhere."
Jon gets up and grabs a can of Jolt from the old refrigerator that held mostly beer, "Babe, do you want anything?"
She shakes her head no, "Thank you though. I'll get a glass of water." She gets up and goes up stairs, leaving the two of them alone.
As soon as Jon seen Monica's foot leave the top stair he asks Richie, "What made you think of Dorothea?"
"Honestly man, when she said that, in my mind I heard the lyric a stolen kiss so out of place and that made me think of her. She kissed me one night when we were in the city and that was the last time I seen her. She just popped into mind, how crazy was that?"
Jon sits back down and kicks his feet up on the coffee table. " I really think she'll be good, don't you?"
"Yeah. Dot was always nice and gentle, she could play a heartbroken girlfriend pretty easy, I think. I just don't know what Monica will say when she sees her."
They decide that they will stop by and see if Dorothea still lives with her parents. If not, they will find her and see if she's interested in being in the video. On the ride there, Monica works on her concept drawings and put on paper what she thinks Dorothea may look like. Jon looks over and sees that she had her pegged for a blonde. He reaches over and takes her hand and says, "Hey, last time I seen her, she was a dark blonde, more brunette."
"Really, I pictured her to be a blonde, like that crazy Liz chick."
"Oh God no, they are night and day. Dot had long straight hair, wore very little make up, if any at all."
Monica thinks about what he's saying. "So her and I are alike?"
Jon swerves, Richie in the backseat has to jump in here, "OH no no no no, you guys are nothing alike.............or wait." He stops talking and thinks for a minute.
Monica turns in the seat and looks at him, "What?"
"Shit. That's it." he winks at her, "That's why I couldn't date her. You guys are alot alike. It would have been like datin you."
"Richie, are you serious?"
"Mon, I love you. I could ever date anyone that looked like you. Oh my, that's funny."
Jon looks in the rearview mirror, "They really arent all that alike Rich."
"Dude, dating Dot would have been like dating my sister."
Monica turns her attention to Jon, "Jon, do I look like her? Or better yet, do I remind you of her?"
"NO! Let's stop with this crazy talk." He tells them as they pull into her parents drive way. Dorothea is there.
The three of them get out of the car and Dorothea is thrilled to see both Jon and Richie. More so Jon. When they get to her in the driveway, Dorothea gives Jon and Richie a big hug and they say hello.
"Dorothea, this is Monica. Monica, this is Dorothea." Monica extends her hand.
"Hi, it's nice to meet you." The two women shake hands.
Dot smiles and says, "Nice to meet you too." Dorothea turns her attention back to Jon and asks, "What brings you guys here, I haven't seen you in forever."
Monica doesn't give either Jon or Richie a chance to answer, "Well, we're here to ask you to be in a video."
"What?" she looks at Monica, shocked.
"I'm pulling together a concept for a video and the concept involves a love interest and when I asked them if they knew anyone to play the part, they both said Dorothea, so that's why we're here."
Dorothea looks at Jon, then at Richie and then back at Monica. When Dorothea turns just right, she can see it - even if it's a little bit, she can see the 'Monica'.
"So that makes her okay."
"Depending on your vision, I think she would be great. She only came to my mind," he pats on his chest, "because I know the lyrics and she would fit the role of a heartbroken girlfriend."
