Chapter 150 - But You Didn't Know Baby

Jon cues up the master on Monica's state of the art stereo system, reel to reel.

He looks over at her, where she plopped down in a bean bag and says, "I don't think this is the order we're going to release, but these are the songs."  He's a little nervous.  He clicks the machine to play and just stands there, as the first chords and the drum beats start for Lay Your Hands On Me.  One long inhaled breath, he turns to her, and is pleasantly surprised to see her feeling the music.  Tico's beats are deep and body feeling, Jon thought they were sexy.  Monica looks up at him an smiles.  The song goes on.   He takes a seat next to her, on a footstool that matched the thrift store couch that she bought years ago for her house.  When Jon moved in and they remodeled, she couldn't bare to get rid of it, so she stored it in the basement for the very day that she would have her own studio.  "Do you like it?"  He asks her.

On the reel, Jon starts to say They say that to really feel your body, you've got to free your mind, so come on, check this out.  Monica is shocked by that.  "I like that, who's idea was that?"

Jon smiles.  He sits there and looks at his wife.  The woman that he has fallen so deeply in love with, a woman he can't imagine a life without and he can't forget how badly he's hurt her.  He's wondering what she's thinking at this very moment - even though he can see that she really likes what she's heard so far.  He can see that she's impressed with what she's hearing and he can see that his music, the bands music has her full attention.  He leaves her to do what she's doing.

He's seen her load her film and prepare it for dark room processing before, so that's what he starts to do.  He needs to leave her be so she can hear the heart and soul that he's poured into that record, her song and the song he wrote for her.  He pops open film canisters and starts to hang them in her dark space, paying close attention to not let them be exposed to any light.  One by one, he gets as far as he can get, before she runs through the darkroom door.  He looks at her as she pushes her way out of the cylinder and he can see that she's crying.  "Heyyyyy."  he says, walking toward her, 'what's the matter?"

"Our song."  the tears roll down her face, "Jon, that's beautiful."

"It comes from my heart, even though you wrote most of the lyrics."

"I absolutely love it.  You went to a place with it that I wasn't sure was possible, since my lyrics came from a very bad place we were at."

"I'm good at spinning things, you know that."  he laughs.  "Are you done?"

She shakes her head no, "Will you come listen with me?  These can wait."  she motions to her film that's hanging and the reels that he's prepping.

"Sure."  his hand goes to the small of her back and he guides her back through the cylinder door.  They take a place on the couch and as soon as they sit down, the sexy acoustic guitar on Wild Is The Wind starts to play.  This is the one song that he wanted her to listen to alone with no distractions.....

I would have thought being a big enough of a fan and write this blog, that you would be promoting up-coming tour/album.

    1. why would I do that? It doesn't fit the story line, nor is it relevant to the blog?
